Nevada Teen Driving Laws

Nevada operates under a Graduated Drivers License (GDL) Law, which includes three stages: Driver Education, Learner's Permit, and Full License.

  • Driver Education: At 15, Nevada teens can enroll in a driver education course. In Nevada, nearly all teens must complete a driver's education course.
  • Learner's Permit: Teens may obtain a learner's permit at age 15 and a half after providing required documents and completing a written test. With a learner's permit, teens must complete 50 hours of driving practice, with 10 hours being at night.
  • Full License: At 16, teens may apply for a full license after holding their learner's permit for 6 months.
